Unprecedented wildfires have severely affected various areas of Cyprus, leaving residents reeling from the destruction left in their wake.
By pledging €5 million we aim to support recovery efforts, through helping urgent frontline needs and supporting long-term recovery efforts. The financial support will be based on a documented needs assessment, carried out in collaboration with relevant authorities and on-site evaluations.
“We are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the wildfires and stand in solidarity with the communities affected,” said Stavri Morti, co-CEO at XM. “Our thoughts are with every individual and family impacted, and we are committed to supporting both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts with responsibility and care.”
The initiative will be implemented in coordination with our trusted partners, to guarantee that aid reaches those who need it the most, and ensure that resources are used in a targeted, transparent, and effective manner.
In addition to the €5 million donation, we’re launching fire prevention initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s preparedness to prevent future fire disasters. These actions will also be carried out in partnership with suitable collaborators.
