Shaping the Future of Finance in Egypt'22

This September, XM sponsored two events to support the greatest minds in business and finance in Cairo, Egypt.

On 14 September, we attended the Third Annual Cairo CFO Summit as the event's strategic partner. Every year, the CPD Standards Office in London-accredited high-profile event attracts the biggest names in the financial world of Egypt.

During the event, business leaders had the opportunity to network with each other, share the most innovative ideas, and best practices, and discuss how the latest developments in the financial industry affect Egypt and the rest of the world. This year's event builds on the success of the 2021 and 2020 summits, gathering hundreds of top finance and business leaders and industry experts and attracting a wide media coverage across the region.

One of the speakers was Sherif Samy, the chairman of CIB, a leading private sector bank in Egypt, who gave his insights into the future of financial technology. Dr Amr Hassanein, American University in Cairo professor and managing director of MERIS, Moody's Affiliate in Egypt, shed the light on the assigned ratings within several sectors in the Egyptian market. Dr Rania Azmi, the founder of NATO-registered Alexandrite Decisions, gave a talk on how business and finance leaders can make strategic decisions in light of the many complexities and continuous changes in the financial markets.

XM's own chief technical strategist and founder & CEO of Tradepedia Avramis Despotis was also on the agenda. Despotis is an expert instructor with over two decades of financial and trading experience who has mentored more than 40,000 private and institutional traders over the course of his career. His topic was 'Bridging the Trading Gap: Blending Technical and Fundamental Analysis' and he delivered practical tips on merging technical and fundamental analysis in trading that he previously shared only with his big-ticket clients such as Reuters, HSBC, Barclays, Kuwait Financial Markets Association, National Commercial Bank, BNP Paribas, and Société Générale.

On 15 September, Avramis Despotis also shared his financial market knowledge with the students of the AUC School of Business at a workshop that XM sponsored. He revealed trading secrets and tackled the latest market developments to help shape the finance leaders of the future.
